Redefining the Impossible

Posts made during April 2008

Maezyn

Maezyn ground her way to 56 in Winterspring. She could rock pairs of level 58 Winterfall Ursa's and even dealt with a pair of Shamen Healers with deft use of Scattershot to interrupt the healing.

It was a grind though, levelling Maezyn takes longest and it's only going to get harder.

I've parked her in Ironforge. She's been in Kalimdor for ages but I'm tired of Kalimdor. She can tackle Western Plaguelands (should be easy at 56), Eastern and Burning Steppes, a zone that I haven't done properly before (Maevyn was too high when she went there). Once she is 58 she can get some nice outlands greens, get herself to shatt, then portal back to Kalimdor and take on Silithus.

I haven't done all the quests I could have, I did all the quests I could find on Maevyn and just don't feel like doing them all again. I've avoided much of Azshara because it involves far too much running and (even worse) swimming. Rather than do some quest that involves 15 minutes travel I prefer to farm leather (oh how I'm looking forward to Nagrand, I'm going to try it at about 63).

Maevyn

Maevyn had a backlog of three Primal Waters to auction as most evenings I log in, transmute, then log out. She searched the auction house to see what the going rate was. If they are less than 20g I normally keep them until the price recovers or transmute an Earthstorm Diamond instead. However, on this occasion there were none there. Odd. I decided that some unknown patch 2.4 change had effected the Primal market and I put two Primal Waters up for a slightly gougy 25g each. They both sold in minutes. I put the third up for a more gougy 30g and as I did someone did a panicky WTB Primal Water. This again sold in minutes.

The market seems to have settled down now at about 25g per Primal Water.

Maevyn has the captial to buy the other three Mae's their epic land mounts. I will wait until WoTLK and see whether I can put off buying them all flying mounts until level 78. Maevyn makes about 15g a day from the transmuting and I don't feel the desire to make any more. Maesyn's leather sells nicely for a g or so a stack so she can buy her own regular land mount and Maexyn's regular land mount is the cheap (not free!) fiery footed warlock steed (although I'm more interested in the cheap level 75 riding training and a mechanostrider). I haven't tried selling Maesyn's herbs yet, I'm debating internally whether to make another alchemist to double my transmute bandwidth. It all boils down to:

  • which profession on which character to drop? Pooky's mining most likely as I don't use it and it would be easiest to get up to 375 again. Of the three gathering professions I like mining the least. Pooky's blacksmithing is pretty damn useless but would be very hard to get back if I dropped it. Arcanite transmute has no cooldown now so mining thorium for arcanite probably isn't worth the bother. UNLESS transmuting acranite leads to discoveries (but I don't think Blizzard would make that mistake).
  • do I want to farm Sporregar rep for another Primal Water transmuter? NO NEVER AGAIN AND DEF NOT WITH A PALLY (no, I do pallies an injustice, I mean not with Pooky).
  • how to find the time

WoW on Wine

I had a proper desktop session on linux/wine. I had it in windowed mode and it seemed to play much more smoothly than it does windowed on windows (irony!). The only problems I found were:

  • I didn't have the extra two buttons on my mouse set up. One is normally my grinding macro button that does /pet attack, Hunter's Mark, Serpent Sting, Arcane Shot etc. I bound the macro to a key and carried on playing. The other mouse button is normally the run toggle button. I will try to get around to editing my xorg.conf to fix it.
  • there was something add about the mapping of keyboard->action bar buttons. At one point I kept casting 'Mend Pet' instead of attacking.
  • the in-game dialog boxes are a bit squashed up. The screen is full width but the code that handles the dialogs (unit frames?) seems to think it is narrower.

It's still (too) playable and I can live with it. Mods such as TBags work fine.

Incidently it took longer to patch my laptop with 2.4 than it would to just copy the files from the desktop.

Two episodes in as many days? Whatever next?

Maexyn

Maexyn ran around southshore killing murlocs, naga and ogres. She got the mouldy tome that is part of the Felhunter quest from the murlocs. The ogres were the toughest opponents (levels 34-36). As she was in grinding mode with the Succubus she was rarely on full health/mana and can find it very hard to deal with adds. I made a tactical mistake in starting a fight in an area I had seen ogres chasing another player away from and although I knew they would come back I started fighting anyway. Luckily Soulstone was up so I didn't really care: I'm considering it a Warlock perk that I can die once every 30 minutes without a corpse run and I don't worry about it. It's a bad attitude. I use it more than Feign Death.

One thing about Warlock play that is REALLY getting annoying: global cooldown. Every fight starts by casting three DoT's and I have to wait for the global cooldown between each one. My screen has 'Spell not Ready Yet' burnt into the pixels.

Maexyn hit 34 and will be off to 1000 needles next for the other part of the Felhunter quest. It's a long run so I'm not looking forward to it. She may do Shimmering Flats and pick up the Gadgetzan flight point while she is in the area.

Maesyn

Maesyn went after the other half of a pendent as part of the swim form quest. Swim form is nice, she looks like a fat sea lion with a cat's face but swimming underwater is much less sluggish. She changes to caster if she starts fighting so you have to hope the fight will end before she runs out of breath. She fought a level 20 loch ness monster thing in Loch Modan and it was a close fight. I have bound swim form to a keyboard button, next to the bear form button and it toggles between caster and swim form. I think it is better to have three different buttons for bear/swim/cat form as she has to change very quickly while fighting and cycling through the forms on one button (as per hunter aspects) would be Very Bad.

She is still level 17. I'm going to run her around Loch Modan a bit. Her herbalism is lagging, she's less than 50 and cannot pick some useful herbs. For reasons I don't understand the herbalism tracking seems to switch to something else if she takes a flight and I neglect to switch it back, then I'm too busy skinning to think about herbs, having them on the minimap would help remind me.

WoW on Wine

I'm sure it feels smoother on linux/wine and boots faster than it does on Windows (and Windows is on a Raid 0 array, linux a single disk). Extra mouse buttons resisted cursory attempts to get them going but I don't use them for Warlock/Druid anyway.

It ran the 2.4.1 patch installer flawlessly, apart from having to prompt me to download a gecko reader to display the patch notes.

I set up a cron job to backup my web sites to my Mythical Convergence Box, just a simple rsync of the subversion repository and, to be safe, /var/www. The latter was 500Mbytes.

Next morning the cron job had run and my server was inaccessable. Oops, with 10g of WoW and 10g of family photos I had filled the main disk up, my 250g Myth disk being mounted on /var/lib/mythtv. The box hadn't crashed but it was in a kind of coma, you ask it to do something and it went urgh.

I had to reboot into recovery mode and move the photos to the mythtv disk, leaving me 68%. Observations:

  • Interesting how hard the system failed when the disk filled up. Have to be careful.
  • Linux recovery mode is actually useful! Whenever I've tried the (admittedly pre-vista) Windows recovery modes it has spent a quarter of an hour loading drivers for obscure disk controllers, then I've tried the automated recovery that never works, then I've rebooted, I've waited another quarter hour, then it's given me something with the raw power of a 1985 dos prompt, then I've given up and reformatted the disk.

Last night my cron job worked fine and my websites are so thoroughly backed up that my head is spinning.

Maesyn

Went crazy and ground around Loch Modan for two and a half levels to get Maesyn to level 20 and Cat Form.

/images/MaesCat.jpg

I was delighted to see how she looked, dark purple! I thought all cat form druids were straw coloured. I hope this display of ignorance isn't because I never see them because they are hopeless!

I invested the 11th talent point in Feral Swiftness which boosts the cats running speed by 15%. I decided to have a quick quest in Westfall and it was blissful. The mobs were weak but the way the cat tore through them was amazing. Running around that bit faster meant that the grinding was relentless.

Ended up at level 21 so put the second talent point in Feral Swiftness for 30% extra speed so it's on a par with Aspect of the Cheetah, except it's not so vulnerable to dazing and it's there when I need to run away without getting dazed.

I'm loving druid play. It was good as caster/bear but caster/bear/cat gives so many abilities. Lets look at play options:

Healer
covered. Liking the instant cast 'rejuvenation' heal over time. Use it before shifting to bear for tanking or, because it is instant, use it while running away! For a good heal I use 'regrowth' between fights as it has a heal over time which I can use in the next fight. It is also more mana efficient than Healing Touch.
Caster
capable of burning down ranged casters if can't be bothered to run up to them. Does tend to go oom, then unable to change form so have to be careful. Up till cat form I was meleeing as Caster a lot as it seemed quicker than killing in Bear form. This meant my melee skill was up to date. I'm not sure I can sustain this if I spend all my time in cat form.
Tank
I may well be doing something wrong but bear form doesn't seem as tough as a pally. I'm not sure I could handle three equal level mobs. Maybe having Thorns up would help? Also I haven't got healing in bear form mastered, I keep reaching for health pots. I will have to try putting healing spells on the bear action bar to see if casting them will automatically switch to Caster. I will have to practise the kind of stun-heal tricks I used as a pally.
Melee
Cat form seems vulnerable to damage but it's nice ripping things apart. While grinding rejuvenation helps again as just shift to caster, rejuvenate and shift back while running to the next target.
Crowd Control
I've managed to take on a group of three by rooting one of them and tanking the other two. In another fight I unwisely rooted one, then started casting a Starfire, a long casting time spell and hence a waste of the limited rooting time. More strategy to learn here. I haven't tried the Hibernate spell yet but it only works on beasts.
Stealth
I haven't tried this much. I did creep up on one guy but I haven't got any nice backstabbing abilities yet so there isn't a lot of point. On the whole I prefer blasting games to sneaking about games but soloing level 60 dungeons is tempting.

And how good is it being able to warp to moonglade at will (no cooldown)? It seems that the free(!) flight to darnassus is what keeps resetting my herb tracking. UPDATE: patch 2.4.3 fixed a bug about this flight resetting druid buffs.

Much as I hate flash, it is a nice way to embed a sound or video player in a page. Here's how I did it in rails using the JW FLV Media Player. I added the following to my view:

   1 <script type="text/javascript" src="/javascripts/swfobject.js"></script>
   2
   3 <% for oRssItem in @rssitems %>
   4 <hr/>
   5 <h3><%= oRssItem.title %></h3>
   6 <p><%= oRssItem.description %></p>
   7 <table width="470">
   8 <tr>
   9 <td wIdth="50%"><%= oRssItem.created.strftime( "%m %B %y") %></td>
  10 <td align="right"><%= link_to "Download", "/#{ oRssItem.filename}" %></td>
  11 </tr>
  12 </table>
  13
  14 <div id="player<%=oRssItem.id%>">This text will be replaced</div>
  15
  16 <script type="text/javascript">
  17      var so = new SWFObject('/mediaplayer.swf','mpl','470','20','8');
  18      so.addParam('allowscriptaccess','always');
  19      so.addParam('allowfullscreen','true');
  20      so.addVariable('width','470');
  21      so.addVariable('height','20');
  22      so.addVariable('file','/<%= oRssItem.filename%>');
  23      so.write('player<%=oRssItem.id%>');
  24 </script>
  25 <% end %>

This generates a page full of podcast entries, each with a little media player thing so you can listen to them easily. This does mp3 files but it can handle video too.

I am aware that the swfobject.js would be better loaded in the html header.

Here's a demo: I don't know if this will work in the rss feed (UPDATE: no!) so bear with me and please be gentle on my bandwidth, it's quite a catchy tune:

Oops, no flash? Javascript broken? Works for me.

The main reason I am blogging this is because it only needs a change to a view file and installation of two files in the /public directory (the player and a javascript file). Since view files are awkward to comment legibly I decided to document it all here so I can find it again.

Maexyn

Maexyn completed the Fel Hunter quest. The remaining steps involved fighting characters in the mid to high twenties and mostly grey, not a stretch for a level 34 but useful silk drops. Interesting trip to Thousand Needles:

  • tried to avoid PvP with the guard at the great lift but voidwalker attacked it and got flagged. Made a run for the lift but fell to death in time honoured fashion. What was funny was that a nelf, taking advantage of my voidwalker, fell with me and also died, we hit the ground together. But warlock has soulstone...
  • She ran across shimmering flats to get to gadgetzan and was ganked by a scorpid. It appeared to be a rare spawn so she left the voidwalker tanking it while she dealt with an add. Turns out it was a 35 elite rare spawn scorpid and as she had entered the fight on less than 100% health/mana she died. Didn't have soulstone up that time sad I thought they had nerfed all the roaming elites so didn't worry about it sad

Got the Fel Hunter and decided to try some of the new Dustwallow Marsh quests. Killed a load of threshers underwater, thanks to unending breath spell (love that). Used the voidwalker rather then the Fel Hunter for reasons I don't recall, something to do with voidwalkers multi-target agro management. I want to experiment with the Fel Hunter more to see if it is a good compromise between voidwalker wet sock attacks/survivability and Succubus pewpew/fragility.

Dinged 35.

Maezyn

In about two hours Maezyn covered Western Plaguelands, did all cauldrons and put markers in four towers. This region seems a bit easier than before, the towers now have level 57 normal mobs, I'm sure they were once level 60 elites. Ran out of bullets mid-quest so hearthed to Ironforge, or so I though, turned out she was still hearthed in Gadgetzan so had to take boat trip back, swearing all the way. Very useful having firefox up on my second monitor. What happened to the crew on the boats?

Found the Silencing Shot very useful against the ghouls with annoying spells such as the Healers and the Mana Burners. I didn't realise Silencing Shot was instant cast and it only has 20 second cooldown so I can use it once a fight to stop them. I had been thinking it was a long cast opening shot like Aimed Shot and had been neglecting it, now I've moved it to a number key, it's that good. I spend the fight watching the enemy cast bar with my finger hovering over number 9.

I was drinking every four or five mobs. I've read the complaints about changes to Hunter mana efficiency on Mania's Arcania so I'm going to have to a gear review. In leiu of this she bought a supply of Argent Dawn Mana Biscuits.

Dinged 57. Picked up a level 57 green crossbow in the auction house. It appears to be Outlands gear as it is 44dps compared to the 33dps level 55 gun she was using. Lots of crossbow skill levelling to do but oh, I've waited so long for a decent crossbow, the Draino Hunters natural weapon. The crossbow was 10g, a bit gougy but it should make level 57 fly past and you can pay a lot more for a scope that won't increase your dps by anywhere near 33%.

She will be in Outlands Real Soon Now. In the past 57-58 has been a slog but this time I already have about 95% rest bonus. My Plans:

  • Burning Steppes to get to 58 if poss. I'm hoping that area has enough quests that are not grey. I've never really done that place before, I went there too high as Maevyn. Should get lots of dragonkin skins smile
  • Outlands and a bit of Hellfire to get some more greens.
  • Get to Shatt
  • Eastern Plaguelands for 59
  • Silithus for 60
  • Epic Elekk !!! Whee.
  • Back to Outlands

WoW Wine

I googled and found something that got my two extra mouse buttons going so I'm happy with WoW on Wine. My dialogs are still squeezed a bit. I could try a unit-frames plugin as an alternate dialog implementation that might work but I haven't seen one with a style I like and most of them seem to fill the screen with raiding stuff that I don't need.

Maezyn

Maezyn hit Burning Steppes and did three quests, killing dragonkin, Ogres and Orcs. The mobs were levels 51-57 and none were grey. I only found one elite in the whole area, one of the orcs. I think the big dragonkin were elite before but now they are pathetic. The rate of experience earning was definitely slower on the level 51's and it was boringly easy too. It was more challenging against the orcs and the Silencing Shot was good again: I am starting to love it, both for pulling casters and for stopping their nasty tricks. 20 second cooldown and 35 yard range is very generous too.

The Steppes got me to within half an hour of level 58 so headed for Eastern Plaguelands and got to 58. Hence:

/images/MaezHitsOutland.jpg

Levelling is definitely faster now and 100% rest bonus doesn't hurt either.

Maezyn's leatherwork has stalled because she needs a supply of thick leather but is well into the rugged leather zone. She has stacks of rugged leather. Given the thick leather she could get from 260-265 where she can train Wicked Bracers which would be the express route to 285. So, do I:

  • waste time farming thick leather
  • waste money buying it

Tough question.

Satisfied

I've played a lot this week but I'm happy because:

six or seven levels between them. When Maezyn hits 60 her levelling will slow down, rest bonus will last longer and I could run only her but I will probably continue to rotate the three of them. I like them all and by changing character and level every couple of days I keep things fresh. If all three had to do Zangarmarsh at the same time it would drive me crazy.

On my Cast List Page I added the sum total of all character levels, right now it's 271 for an average of 38 (which means nothing since experience gain is non-linear). This doesn't include the mage, long since deleted, that I got to level 8.

I have been living with the Mythical Convergence Box for nearly two weeks and have found the first batch of shortcomings:

  • Recordings on Dave channel and CBeebies had intermittent noise on sound and vision, a glitch every ten seconds or so. Very irritating, even when babies are watching lazytown. Reception on Channel 4 and ITV2 were immaculate so babies watched Dora the Explorer. Once I noticed it said 49% signal strength on the banner when I changed channels I decided a more sensitive tuner was in order.
  • It was programmed to record Top Gear and Dragons Den on Dave channel plus various baby programs and hence the tuner was almost always busy and unavailable for live tv.
  • As a PC it is sluggish.
  • The cordless keyboard is intermittent at the far reaches of my room, e.g. my computer desk.
  • The commercial skipping does not work on Dave channel sad Top Gear is edited down from one hour to about forty minutes then they stick 20 minutes of ads on during the program (not between programs). Top Gear looks wonderful on the 42" plasma.

So I bought a hauppauge WinTV Nova-T-500 dual tuner DVB card. This has two tuners and both are (purportedly) more sensitive. It comes with a remote and an IR receiver.

Installation on Ubuntu (gutsy 7.10) was simplicity. The MythTV Wiki goes into great depth about compiling kernel modules but none of this is necessary with ubuntu it Just Works smile

Here are the steps I took:

  • plug card in
  • download firmware and copy to /lib/firmware. The link to the firmware is on this page which is more likely to be maintained than this one blog post.
  • edit /etc/modprobe.d/options and add
    options dvb-usb-dib0700 force_lna_activation=1

  • rmmod dvb-usb-dib0700
  • modprobe dvb-usb-dib0700
  • run
    dmesg

and the ending should give some blurb about dvb loading successfully. Mine didn't first time, I had to rename the firmware file to the name it complained that was missing, then rmmod/modprobe again.
  • Go into MythTV and add the two tuners as capture cards on adapters 0 and 1.

(ok maybe 'Just Works' is a bit strong).

It seems to have cured my noisy recording problems (signal strengths now about 60%) and the scheduler is recording even more voraciously now it has two tuners available: the second tuner is picking up missed lazytown while the first is recording Top Gear four times a day (it is supposed to avoid duplicate recordings but it still managed to scoop up 63 episodes in less than two weeks: maybe 'Dave' channel should have been called 'Jeremy'?).

I found I was able to watch a recording while it simultaneously recorded two other programs. That is pretty good but:

  • even a 1.7 psuedogig cpu must be as good as the thing in my old sky plus box
  • recording DVB-T is just a matter of dumping the mpg stream to the disk.

The recordings have subtitles which I need while exercising as my equipment, especially the exercise bike, is very noisy. I can't exercise without entertainment.

I haven't set up the remote yet but the MythTV Wiki seems to have that covered. Hopefully the remote will be more reliable in the 10-15 feet range and, more importantly, I won't be the only person in the house who can work it.

Maexyn

I threw caution to the wind and blew Maexyn's silk stocks on a tailoring levelling splurge and got it up to 180. I had been saving the silk for first aid and I'm still not sure that was the right decision. She still can't make anything useful for herself apart from disenchanting materials.

I also found some economical enchants and was able to get her enchanting up to a respectable 230 (no uldaman trips smile ). The best enchant I found was the minor speed boost on boots. According to thottbot it is only an 8% speed boost but I found it to be noticable, it took the edge of the sluggish 'run' speed.

I ran her around the swamp of sorrows for a bit. The mobs there are now 35-37 and she struggled a bit, needing lots of health/mana breaks. I decided it was because I had been neglecting demon training so I took her back to Stormwind and got all available training on all four pets (imp/voidwalker/succubus/fel hunter). There was lots there, including a new rank of lash-of-pain for the Succubus.

I then decided to take her to upper Stranglethorn Vale as I thought it would be a lot easier and it definitely was, she was ruthless. She got into a full-on farming groove and was pretty efficient at it too. When the mobs are higher level they need two or three drain lifes to kill them and this eats into the mana reserves. Lower level mobs need as little as one drain life before shifting to drain soul and this can be sustained for many kills.

I read a tip about always using lowest rank drain soul simply to exploit the mana it gives back on death but I found that if the DoT's run out this can mean that the mob takes a ridiculously long time to die, especially if it is a runner. I switched back to rank 2 drain soul and this didn't hurt efficiency as I didn't need to spend mana on a debilitating final drain life that I'd interrupt with a drain soul, I could use just the drain soul to take it out.

I used the Fel Hunter a bit against the STV Medicine men as it is supposed to be good against casters. However, it didn't have it's spell interrupting talent, only a buff eating talent so it wasn't great. I'm not sure if the buff eating talent did anything, the new patch 2.4 combat log generates a ridiculous amount of information and I couldn't find it mentioned amongst all the noise (apparently it is only there to announce to the world that a nearby hunter has laid a trap). The Fel Hunter was ok but against these mobs it didn't really matter which demon I used. I still haven't tried the Imp, someone left a comment here about using the imp as a mana tank but Maex doesn't get the spell for grabbing the Demon's mana till level 40.

She dinged 36 so I trained everything, including demons, and also gave her a respec. I moved her points out of Nightfall, since I never used it, and put then into a more powerful Curse of Agony which is a mainstay. She rarely uses shadowbolt, affliction ftw.

Maesyn

Maesyn tackled Wetlands, simple gnoll-killing quests. She tackled it in Caster/Cat/Bear form, mainly pulling gnolls from the camps as caster, then killing them as cat. Those camps are a bit volatile so she trod carefully. I'm still a bit disappointed by the Bear's tanking capabilities, it struggles with two mobs. I've put heal buttons on the Bears action bars and they work nicely, they automatically switch it to caster. I have the same three heal buttons on the Caster, Bear and Cat action bars.

Maesyn dinged 22 and got the Cat's backstab ability, she can prowl up behind something and open a fight with a 220% damage hit. Sounds like fun. Got feral charge fot the bear too but haven't tried it yet. I don't know if charging, changing to cat and then backstabbing is viable, whether the cat has enough energy after a switch. Must give that one a go.

Pookypoo

Since I respecced him retribution a week or two ago I haven't run pooky but since none of the girls had 100% rest bonus I decided to take him for a spin as I was curious to see whether recent patches had made him viable. Back to Terokkar forest and my paladin skills were very rusty, I had even forgotten about the bubble.

He needed mana breaks every three fights which was still very annoying. However, once I got used to him again, the fights didn't take an unbearably long time. His attack vector evolved into:

  • Judgement of crusader
  • Seal of Command
  • Spam Crusader Strike

The Crusader Strikes were ok, although they often seemed to miss, especially when they would have ended a fight. They usefully kept the Judgement of Crusader active so I didn't have to worry about refreshing it all the time.

Once the mobs were down to 30-40% health I found a very nice combo to take them out:

  • Stun
  • Judgement of Crusader
  • Crusader Strike
  • Hammer of Wrath

This was normally curtains, especially if Hammer of Wrath critted for 1500 (Maezyn was getting 1400 Aimed Shot crits at level 53 so I'm not impressed). If it wasn't curtains the mob had so little health that I only had to wait 3.5 seconds for the next two-handed swing, although that did seem like an eternity.

I'm going to have to try some mana-efficiency with him:

  • run with Blessing of Wisdom rather than Blessing of Might.
  • make up for BoM with buff foods, (cooked by Maevyn: why level more than one cooking alt?).
  • after a fight use bandages to heal: faster than eating and uses no mana.

I bought Pook some new boots and got Maexyn to enchant them with the minor speed boost. Again it made a not-totally-negigible difference, running around is 8% less tedious.

Pooky is 2.5 hours from level 65 and I'm going to go for it. Here's my latest project:

  • buy him a two-handed axe and get the skill up to optimum (about 20 ticks)
  • drop his crappy armoursmith specialisation (that cost me two hundred bars of thorium grrr) and take up Master Axesmith (which will cost 50g sad but it's 100g from level 66).
  • farm Motes of Air in Nagrand until I scream.
  • buy Primal Air's in Auction House
  • get him to level 65.
  • make him a Skyforged Great Axe for about 10% more dps and a healthy chunk of crit and attack power. Follow the link and look at that thing, it's a must have.

I found a site that uses the armory and the WoW models to generate pictures of your characters. This, should it work, is how pooky is looking:

Pooky looks daft

He got a plate lupine helm in a quest, it has lots of crit but is the most stupid looking thing because it doesn't cover his beard. This picture should update as he gears up, so keep looking for the Skyforged Axe to appear! The model for Maezyn has her horns all wrong but I guess its primary purpose is for posing with your epix.

Conclusion

Four characters and I love them all. I won't be able to get them all to 70 before the level cap is raised to 80. Will I ever get them all to the cap? Five level 80's! How to pay for five epic fliers? Can I do it? Stay tuned...

Pookypoo

I set about my plan. t took a lot more than two hours and pook goes through water, food and pots like a mad thing but pook is 65 and has the Skyforged Great Axe:

/images/Skyforged.jpg

and the blooming model clips on his cape sad Still its a lovely looking thing. I ran him to Nagrand to try grinding the motes of air for it himself but the whirlwind things were level 66 and much too tough so he just quested in Terokkar and Maevyn bought six primal airs for a ripoff price but after all this time blacksmithing has come up with something worthwhile.

It's a BoP so Maexyn couldn't put a glow on it sad

I've respecced him again. The retribution spec I had him on before was a boilerplate on from wowwiki, I've tweeked it to my taste, e.g. Spiritual Focus (less chance of healing interruption) rather than Improved Seal of Righteousness (Seal of Command ftw) and no points in Improved Blessing of Might since I have Blessing of Wisdom up most of the time.

He fell off the Aldor lift but I had the presence of mind to bubble and he lived! Pally reflexes are coming back.
