I've come across this before and it came up again today and I don't think I've blogged it. Sometimes vnc on a windows server can be particularly lethargic to the extent that it becomes painful to use. The solution I have found is to disable video hardware acceleration on the server end (Control Panel/Display/Settings/Advanced/Troubleshooting).

Mon Dec 24 2007 12:29 6 months agoThe easiest way is just to right click on the windows desktop and click on properties in the menu. then click on the settings tab, press the advanced button and the 'troubleshoot' tab. This is for Windows XP, for other version of windows the names of the controls may be different but it's essentiall the same. Basicaly it is the windows display settings that need changing, not vnc.

here change the default (use vnc hooks...) to poll for changes....
and thats it!!
