Redefining the Impossible

WoW News Issue 235

Yes, two days of posts! Whatever next!

Maesyn

Had some time to catch up on Maesyn. I think I've been playing too much fire mage as now the Feral Kitty Druid seems slow killing things, it's time mostly spent waiting to regenerate energy for the next claw sad Fire Mage is more exciting, unless you get a lucky two-shot you don't stand around waiting for cooldowns!

Maesyn went into a cave to kill a naga lord, tough work, lots of casters which aren't good for feral mode. Should I brush up my casting skills to try out-blasting them? Maexyn and Maevyn found this one easy, the final boss was 47 and had two bodyguards and it was far too much for my level 44 Bear. A prot pally would have taken them (but would still have struggled with those casters).

Spirit healer, fly to tanaris during debuff, fight easy mode level 41 wastewater guys till hitting level 45.

Not looking forward to trying fire mage in a cave. No 41 yard range, nowhere to blink to, Maecyn may just develop claustrophobia.

Epix

I forgot to mention that I got my first ever epic world drop! 343 levels of killing things and finally I get one. Maexyn got it in Western Plaguelands, it is a Freezing Band, a mage ring that has a chance to freeze. It's level 47 and I'm saving it for Maecyn. In a way it is one of the reasons I respecced her to Fire: a chance to freeze is Very Bad for an AoE Frost Mage as it is very improtant to keep one's mobs in a tight pack.

I think you are talking about the Naga cave in Feralas, if so my fire mage had an easy time of it. Once you get up in levels there are so many instant casts that blasting away any one enemy is rather easy. Killing the boss Naga in that cave was my first "wow fire mages are rather powerful" moment.

Yes, the one on the southern island that you swim to.

This is reassuring. The casters were a bit close for melee, couldn't kill one without agroing another and they were casting frostbolts which slowed the cat down. I dealt with it but it was harder than it was with hunter/warlock where it was a grinding exercise. Fire mage has counterspell so could easily pull the casters apart.

The final fight involved three guys which is tricky for me because my bear druid skills are non-existant. A bear druid is NOT a prot pally and I'm having a hard time finding a way to make the bear survive. Kitty can fight two guys by occasionally casting a regenerate and shifting back to cat but the bear takes so long to kill anything that it gets a good long hammering.

TODO: try grinding for a while purely in bear, learn how to kill things quicker with it. Got the pirates in tanaris coming up...

The best way to kill stuff with ur feral druid especially in cats...your dps will outpower any caster mob very quickly...take out the casters first pop out and heal if u need it pop and innvervate and go back into cat to kill the naga boss...its cake once u get used to it...also u should use feral faerie fire to improve ur strikes...any questions message me on aol...

I did the naga boss again at level 46 and it was easy. He had a caster and a melee with him so I:

  • stealthed
  • took out caster quick
  • agroed the lord so dealt with him

I didn't agro the melee although he was quite close. Took him out afterwards.

The cave was not a problem at level 46, seemed to generate much less threat than at 44 and didn't agro multiple casters.
