Redefining the Impossible

Maesyn

Well the Natures Grasp is handy, not life changing but still useful now and then. A couple of times she fought in cat form and her health got low so she cast this, rooted the opponent, then casually stepped back, healed and then laid in with long cast spells. Maesyn spent level 27 fighting Worgen in Darkshire and really the most useful druid ability was being able to run away quickly! Bear mode still seems crap to me, I'm still missing something. If she is pulling and likely to pull two mobs then maybe she should cast a renewal (instant HoT) then shift to bear but in a normal cat fight, if an add comes along it is normally too late to shift to bear.

Level 28 and Maesyn got a fistful of next ranks so her next trip to Darkshire yielded level 29 quite easily. Not long now till she gets Travel Form and she can run away that much faster!

Maexyn

Ran meax enough to get her to level 42. Was delighted to find that this gave her Death Coil and I can see now why PvPers hate warlocks: an instant cast fear than damages the foe and heals the warlock. Me like.

Was browsing through her spell book and found the Curse of Tongues that appears to halve an opposing casters ranged dps. How did I miss this one? Trying to run too many classes at once probably. I get to a new level, rush to the trainers, get loads of new spells, logout, then run three other classes before returning.

Peter,

One of the reasons I have stuck with afflicion is because there are so many different options. I am sure there are at least 3 spells I have never used. I have even managed to get to 64 without curse of exhaustion. Apparently a very important spell. lol!

One of the problems with so many curses is that you can only have one active at a time. Because I always use CoA I have rarely bothered with CoT. However I have used the CoR (curse of recklessness) to stop those mobs that run away.

I even got to use curse of Doom for the first time on the weekend. It takes several minutes to "go off" so is pointless on anything other than boss mobs.

Cheers

I'm with you on the curses, CoA is automatic for me: my absolute standard attack is: keys 4,5,6 = CoA, Corruption, Siphon Life (TODO: castsequence macro). I don't bother with immolate because of the cast time. I pull with CoA to give it maximum time to tick.

I tried curse of tongues but CoA burns the casters down quicker so I'm not sure it's worth it. I only spotted Drain Mana the other day! So many offensive tools, gotta love dps classes.

I like the curse of recklessness tip! Nothing worse than when something runs and I have a 36 yard long drain soul and the voidwalker chasing them, trying to finish them off after the DoT's have worn off.

I read about alternately casting recklessness/fear as a means of crowd control but that sounds like hard work. I rarely use fear, I hate casting times.

Depending on how a fight is going I do find it possible to shift into bear form and finish off two mobs. Not sure when you get the ability but you can Regenerate your health by converting your rage points into health points. It's not fail-safe and obviously reading the situation and knowing when to run and when to Bear is key :o)

Peter Says:

I got the rage->health talent at around level 36. I haven't used it yet as bear mode is my last resort. It does seem very expensive in terms of the rage it costs vs the health it gives.

You're right about the run vs bear decision. I am finding that with less than 50% health it is better to run, if you shift to bear you almost immediately need a heal because of the rate that your health is falling.

My prot pally at around level 38 was far tougher against multiple mobs than the bear druid but then again he didn't have anything like cat mode (switching from sword and board to two handed weapon is way way less than shifting from bear to cat).
