Redefining the Impossible

WoW News Issue 201

Good News

Maexyn hit level 20 (warcraft sig site is broken again, click the sig for armory page if you don't believe me).

Bad News

She has to run all the way to the Barrens for the Succubus quest. Nearest flight point? Loch Modan! And I thought the paladin lvl 20 quest was a lot of running sad So this is why warlocks and paladins get free mounts, because their legs are really tired by level 40.

Other News

I didn't mention before but I followed spikeles's link regarding the vendoring bug and the workaround seems to be to right click the things you want to sell with the vendor dialog box open at the 'selling' page, not the 'buy back' page. In fact this is a more convenient way of selling things than the drag and drop I was doing so I'll probably do it this way from now on.

I'm surprised you haven't done more with Maevyn since hitting 70. Since hitting 70 with Silvah I've been:

  • levelling engineering
  • levelling mining
  • completing all available normal quests (easy money)
  • picking up daily normal and instance quests
  • running instances (my guildies are happy to jump into one as and when; even if you PUG them, most 5-mans are fairly short)
  • running heroics (plenty of wipes, but good fun nonetheless)
  • gearing up for the next expansion

Compared to what it was like at release, there should be enough to keep you busy when you hit the cap now.

To go through these point by point

  • levelling engineering
  • levelling mining

Maevyn is 375 Herb+Alch. She's not a master transmuter but according to my feeble estimations it would take her months to pay back the investment of four primal might's. She doesn't have every recipe going, too many need rare mats, reputation or instance runs and, in any case, they are of no interest to me.

  • completing all available normal quests (easy money)

Yes easy money but what do I use the money for? Maevyn is making enough from transmuting to subsidise Maezyn and Maexyn. She herself would only use the money for gear or an epic flying mount. The gear she doesn't need for transmuting and the epic flying mount is useless as she spends all her time in Ironforge running between the AH and the mail box. Her pet is permanently dismissed as I got tired of feeding it for nothing.

  • picking up daily normal and instance quests

I tried the egg bombing run a few times but it got repetative. I don't want to be doing daily chores and I certainly don't want to be commuting between quest sites every day. Just logging in for Maevyn to transmute one primal earth->primal water a day is enough of a commitment.

  • running instances (my guildies are happy to jump into one as and when; even if you PUG them, most 5-mans are fairly short)

My playing sessions are too easily interrupted to commit myself to anything group related.

  • running heroics (plenty of wipes, but good fun nonetheless)

Not geared or experienced (in the playing sense) for heroics. I would cry myself to sleep everynight with the screams of 'noob' ringing in my ears.

  • gearing up for the next expansion

I'm pretty sure that the green drops at the start of the next expansion will make Outlands epics obsolete in the same way that Outlands epics do old Azeroth epics. Otherwise only top players will be able to tackle the new expansion and Blizzard want to sell copies to everyone. Trust me you'll be kicking yourself for wasting time on them, just as if you had spent three months farming ardent dawn rep.

What it boils down to is that I enjoy solo levelling, getting experience and dinging levels. What makes WoW a great game is that there are many different things to do. I would like to run instances but I don't have anything like a three hour slot every evening to do it in.
