Redefining the Impossible

Another Vista Tip

If you attempt something like

ipconfig /flushdns

in a command prompt (which surely you all do?) and get the mysterious message

The requested operation requires elevation.

then fret not. Find the command prompt in your start menu (you have it pinned for easy access of course?), right click and select 'Run as Administrator' (you are an administrator?). Then you are free to flush away. 'Begone outdated DNS records' I hear you cry.

I haven't found this too stressful thus far although one project I am working on needs to be run as administrator, which isn't very convenient for the users. The UAC prompts never seem to say exactly why they need to run as admin (not even an 0x8263542 code) and the Events Viewer is a confusing mess.
